From the HRAGNH President - feedback is the fuel of performance improvement:
Dear Chapter Members and Friends,
In January, I began my transition into the role of chapter president for 2008. Renee Just is still actively participating on the board as the immediate past president for which we're all very grateful. Her energy and creativity was one of the significant factors in the chapter's progress in 2007. She'll continue to have an impact on board decisions and chapter direction. Thanks Renee!
The board of director's commitment this year will be on membership management, which includes membership recruitment, development and retention. Since there's no way we can recruit and retain members without meeting your professional development needs, we're planning an on-line needs assessment within the next two months.
We want your candid feedback about how the chapter can contribute to your professional growth. We can't be everything; yet we can do some things really well! Even before the survey is launched, you're welcome to call me at any time to provide personal feedback and discuss ideas you have. My philosophy is "feedback is the fuel of performance improvement." We want to hear it regardless of what that feedback is. The board can't improve anything, if we don't know about it.
HRA as a chapter will only grow and improve if each member makes an investment . . . even if it's a small one like providing candid feedback, paying for a student to attend a dinner program, giving the program chair names of excellent speakers we can recruit, etc.
I'm very enthusiastic about this year and the fine board of directors with whom I'm serving. Yet, every member's participation is an integral part of the formula for the chapter's success and, thus, your own professional success.
Like you, there are days I leave work to attend a dinner program very sure I'd rather go home, instead. Then, once I get to the chapter meeting, I'm so glad I made the effort. It's easy to get isolated and spend all our time "getting results" at work without even a short break to renew. Just remember "professional renewal" is not a luxury, it's a necessity.
Come join us and thanks for your time,
Linda
